The Kuki Inpi Jiri, Tamenglong and Noney (JTN) has announced a 24-hour economic blockade after a woman was killed and two of her family members were wounded in an attack at Tollen village in Manipur’s Tamenglong district. The organisation identified the deceased as Lhingjangai Singsit, wife of Seineh Singsit. Seineh, a farmer, sustained serious bullet injuries. Their six-year-old son was also wounded in the incident. Two other sons escaped unharmed, according to the organisation’s statement.
Allegations and Security Concerns
Kuki Inpi JTN alleged that suspected Naga militants opened fire at the family’s home at around 4 am. These allegations could not be independently verified. The organisation noted that the attack occurred only a few hundred metres from where security forces were deployed and sought clarification on how the incident took place despite the presence of personnel in the area.
Demands for Justice
Kuki Inpi JTN has demanded immediate action to bring those responsible to justice and called for the case to be transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for investigation. It has also sought permanent deployment of adequate security personnel at Tollen village to protect civilians. The organisation said it would not accept the mortal remains of Lhingjangai Singsit for her funeral until justice was delivered.

As part of the protest, it announced a 24-hour economic blockade with immediate effect and warned that an indefinite total shutdown would follow if the government failed to act within the stipulated period. The organisation said the protest was aimed at seeking justice for the deceased woman and accountability over the attack.
